Get the most out of LumaBooth
LumaBooth turns an iPad into a complete photo booth. These guides cover setup, templates, printing and sharing.

Set up your first LumaBooth event
From a blank iPad to a booth that's ready for guests in about 15 minutes.
Read the steps
- Create a new event and name it clearly with the date, e.g. "Sara & Fahad wedding 12-03".
- Pick the capture mode — single photo, multi-shot strip, GIF or boomerang — and set the countdown to 3–5 seconds.
- Load your print template and start screen so guests see the event's look from the first tap.
- Run 3–4 full test sessions — take, print and share — before the doors open.

Design templates that print perfectly
The right size, resolution and safe margins so nothing gets cropped.
Read the steps
- Design 4×6 templates at 1200 × 1800 px (300 dpi). For 2×6 strips, place two strips side by side on one 4×6 and let the printer cut them.
- Export the overlay as a PNG with transparent windows where the photos go.
- Keep logos and text at least 5 mm (about 60 px) from every edge — printers trim slightly.
- Print a test and judge colours on paper, not on screen — screens always look brighter.

Connect LumaBooth to a HiTi or DNP printer
AirPrint or a print server — which to use and how to keep prints flowing.
Read the steps
- Dye-sub event printers (HiTi, DNP) usually connect through a computer running a print server; many inkjets like Epson can print directly over AirPrint.
- Put the iPad and the print server on the same network — a dedicated travel router is far more reliable than venue Wi-Fi.
- Match the paper size in LumaBooth to the media loaded in the printer (4×6 or 2×6 cut).
- Set copies per session, and limit reprints if you need to control paper use.

QR, email and SMS sharing that just works
Let guests take their photos home digitally — even when the venue internet is weak.
Read the steps
- Turn on QR sharing so guests scan and save the photo to their phone instantly.
- Customise the email and message text with the event name and your social accounts.
- With no internet, shares wait in a queue and send once you're back online — don't delete the event until the queue is empty.
- After the event, download all photos and send the client the full gallery.

Lock down the iPad for unattended use
Stop guests from leaving the app or changing settings mid-event.
Read the steps
- Turn on Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access), then triple-click inside LumaBooth to start it.
- Set Auto-Lock to Never and turn on Do Not Disturb so calls and notifications don't pop up.
- Protect LumaBooth's settings with a passcode.
- Keep the iPad plugged in — a long event can drain the battery in a few hours.

Clean green screen & background swaps
Clean cut-outs come from good lighting, not from editing.
Read the steps
- Light the green backdrop evenly, with no shadows or creases.
- Keep guests at least 1–1.5 m in front of the backdrop to avoid green spill on skin and hair.
- Ask guests not to wear green, and keep shiny props away from the backdrop.
- Adjust the keying sensitivity in the event settings until hair edges look clean.
